The bakery is designed to allow students to gain skills necessary for entry level jobs in the food preparation industry.
In the bakery, the interns learn to understand and follow the multi-step directions in the recipes they create. They learn to identify and use tools that are used in the food prep industry, and common ingredients used in the preparation of selected recipes. Skills taught are measuring ingredients, weighing items, time management skills and money handling skills.
This is a real Bakery that follows all food handling guidelines so the interns learn proper food storage and safety techniques, and the proper cleaning of tools and sanitation of work areas.
They learn to work in teams, follow directions of a given task and take instructions from their supervisor, all of the soft skills that they can take with them in to a entry level job in the food preparation industry or and other industry or job they choose.
